For anyone who's ordered a keyboard-less eee pad

Open it and stick it on charge... takes 8 hours for first charge!

Ooops, didn't bring my charger in! It comes with no cables.

It does work so either is powered from the (fully charged) tab or already has a bit of charge in it.

Still says charge at 100% though, I suspect that is lying now.

No battery indicator, the firmware for that is beta though so wasn't expecting it. 'About tablet' says it's EP101-0207.

They said the beta firmware doesn't play well with rooted/custom ROMs so I'll have to wait a bit.

It's very nice. The screen turns off as you close it. If you leave it open and the screen times out you can wake it by tapping space, it skips the swipe-to-unlock screen.

Wasn't sure how to make lists scroll using the touchpad... two fingers!

There's a little notification that helpfully says 'Use keyboard to type words' :)

me too, I expect we will be charge £15 a time for replacement ones until the chinese market starts knocking out clones

They don't do saturday deliveries for items posted with the standard service. Monday at the earliest for us now. At least I assume the £5 fee only covered standard delivery, as it's normally £17 extra for weekend deliveries via UPS.

My keyboard arrived today. It looks and feels very impressive - but -

1. I suspect it wasn't properly assembled as when inspected it I slightly squeezed the top and bottom together at the edge of the touchpad it gave a loud click and moved together as if internal locating lugs/clips were locating home. Slightly alarmed, I gave another gentle squeeze and the same thing happened at the other side of the touchpad. It seems very solid now though with no further creaks or clicks.

2. I can't fugure out how to rotate the mounting hinge round 90 degrees to accept the tablet? It seems very solidly in the horizontal position and I don't want to force it. Can someone please tell me what I'm not doing right? EDIT: I was being too wary - the hinge is quite stiff but it turns. Sorted.

I hope yours arrives tomorrow, I paid for mine on 14 April if that helps with the timeline. I suspect i wont use the keyboard too often, its a bit heavy and it was a tablet i wanted, but will be useful when i need the full works. Having got used to the touch screen the keyboard is strangE.

I know what you mean, im more interested in the extra battery life and extra ports but i think ill be touch screening day to day use :-)

using mine to type this now! works really well and turned up yesterday :unsure:

it seems that the tablet is constantly charging so i asume that once the dock battery is empty it starts using the tablet battery.. the 'battery left' widget i use hasnt changed in ages so i guess it doesnt recognise the dock batt

Only one of mine turned up on Monday :P I ordered 2 (and paid for 2) on the same invoice. I contact Asus and they are sending the other one today. :rolleyes:

Adding the keyboard just makes the device so much better. The keyboard & touch pad work very well in my opinion. I like the custom keys too.

Worth checking. Despite me setting up a reference number, my bank didn't send it, so they had my payment in the "unknown" pile. I sent an email yesterday, got a reply today, sent the extra info and they said it would be shipped today and should arrive tomorrow.
