Guest bulazs Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 Randomly freezes, and then reboots for me. First time it happened when installing file manager from market, next time when installing titanium backup from adb, then when trying to restore an app from titanium backup. Also froze when i entered Settings -> data usage. After reboot, i could do these things, phone froze on other things. Btw when i tried installing Titanium backup from adb, and the phone froze out, and restarted during that command, after it rebooted i got adb install TitaniumBackup_latest.apk 3472 KB/s (4814480 bytes in 1.353s) pkg: /data/local/tmp/TitaniumBackup_latest.apk Failure [iNSTALL_FAILED_ALREADY_EXISTS] So it said it was there. I checked the menu, and it was installed, and was working. So the problem was not with the installation itself. Something happened after it. I don't know if it helps or not, but i have changed cpu settings to performance, max CPU freq. to 788 Mhz, and disabled Surface dithering, enabled "Allow purging of assets" in memory settings, all this after first reboot. But these did not help, i keep getting freezes, and then reboots. (Phone freezes, and after 1-2 minutes it restarts automatically, or if i connect the microUSB cable during this hangup, it restarts instantly) Hope it helps something. Do you want me to try something out? Need any logs? Thanks the great work, Tilal!

Guest bulazs Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 (edited) Can yopu please try and wipe system partition in recovery before you flash. I installed that way. Did a wipe data / factory reset, then in mounts/storage formatted data partitionformatted system partition.installed the rom.wiped data again, rebooted phonewhen it finally loaded, i restarted it to enter recovery, then installed google apps, restarted again Is this order right? I try it again now. EDIT* : lol, it froze out during reboot... Circle just stopped whirling... Edited February 23, 2012 by bulazs
Guest Frankish Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 I get reboots still sorry! And I always format system before a new install. Every time. Rom seems a lot smoother though!
Guest bulazs Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 Did it again, this time without google apps. Got a freeze while Titanium backup restored ES file manager, then it restarted, and i needed to remove battery to turn it back. (Back button was red)
Guest icman Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 Random freezes and after reboot half or one minute later.
Guest Anthony1989 Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 My reboot have started again tilal :( had a freeze for 5 mins and then 3 consecutive reboots
Guest plegdroid Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 I won't bother with titanium to restore apk at the moment, either just whirls until freezes, or just locks up,could just be a problem with ti than the rom, but have found if you've got raw apk backed up(not in tar format) they install via package installer, with no hassel other than having to reset the settings for each one. plus also to take into consideration is apk backed up in gingerbread, may not migrate to well into a ics os.
Guest JThumar Posted February 24, 2012 Report Posted February 24, 2012 Browser stable now...got reboots while browsing, installing app, opening apps... Hope reboots will be fixed, no other prblms
Guest tilal6991 Posted February 24, 2012 Report Posted February 24, 2012 Again a split. For some people its rebooting. For others it isn't. Same as the blade...
Guest PedroVader Posted February 24, 2012 Report Posted February 24, 2012 Again a split. For some people its rebooting. For others it isn't. Same as the blade... Guest bulazs Posted February 24, 2012 Report Posted February 24, 2012 Tilal! Here are 3 logcats of freezes. First Installed Es file explorer, and titanium backup with adb install, both succeeded. Picked up the phone, entered menu, and then it froze out inside menu. Second Happened during restoring an app from Titanium backup Third Happened when i was putting a power control widget to my desktop. It frooze out in the middle of the positioning. For the third one, i used logcat V, so it should be more verbose. All 3 log files have D/dalvikvm int the beginning of the last line. I hope they can be useful! Cheers!adblog1.txtadblog2.txtadblog3.txt
Guest rufus2005 Posted February 24, 2012 Report Posted February 24, 2012 this version is running real smooth tilal, cant wait for the reboots to go away. I have had a lot of freezing and reboots but have decided to put my sim in my old blade so I can keep testing CM9. I havent found a pattern to reboots as of yet, it seems to reboot very randomly, I have had reboots when browsing the web and using various applications, although thinking about it most of the freezes have happened when pressing one of the physical butons on the phone, usually home or back. This version is more stable tilal, but when using the phone I seem to get a reboot approximately every five minutes or so.
Guest Frankish Posted February 24, 2012 Report Posted February 24, 2012 I had a freeze and reboot just opening the app drawer with total stock rom. So i wouldn't be so sure its anything to do with installing apps or pressing buttons etc.
Guest rufus2005 Posted February 24, 2012 Report Posted February 24, 2012 Again a split. For some people its rebooting. For others it isn't. Same as the blade... are there any users who are not getting reboots or freezes?
Guest tilal6991 Posted February 24, 2012 Report Posted February 24, 2012 are there any users who are not getting reboots or freezes? Me. Lol.
Guest rufus2005 Posted February 24, 2012 Report Posted February 24, 2012 Me. Lol. lol ok. Why do you think there should be differences between phones that should be the same?
Guest Smt923 Posted February 24, 2012 Report Posted February 24, 2012 (edited) Haven't ZTE put out lots of different versions? Maybe some have slight hardware changes, I'm on a November - December 2011 OMC model, haven't tried latest build but both builds before been crashing, it's nice and smooth though I could be totally wrong though, could it be related to SD card? It seems odd only some phones work Edited February 24, 2012 by Smt923

It seems odd only some phones work yes could be down to component differences when the phone is built, components will come in batches that may be slightly different from previous batches, capacitors, resisters, leds, cpu ect, they should all have similar tolerances on the build of materials used, but may not be identical, plus if out sourced to more than one manufacturer, one manufacturer may use cheaper components than another, zte would just issue a list of components to use, and as long as the phone boots at build within their stated tolerance level it will be passed as exceptable :(
Guest Smt923 Posted February 24, 2012 Report Posted February 24, 2012 Yeah, that makes sense, shame there's no obvious way to fix whatever is causing the restarts (that we/tilal know of)
Guest JThumar Posted February 24, 2012 Report Posted February 24, 2012 I installed the ROM at night and when i saw my phone awake when i got up i though this is it.....Started playing around with it and the freezes were back. I liked MIUI with regards to freezes coz it had kill app on long back button press. So whenever i used to get a freeze anywhere i used to hit back button and never had problems of reboots. Something to do with UI ? yes could be down to component differences when the phone is built, components will come in batches that may be slightly different from previous batches, capacitors, resisters, leds, cpu ect, they should all have similar tolerances on the build of materials used, but may not be identical, plus if out sourced to more than one manufacturer, one manufacturer may use cheaper components than another, zte would just issue a list of components to use, and as long as the phone boots at build within their stated tolerance level it will be passed as exceptable :(
