Guest plegdroid Posted February 25, 2012 Report Posted February 25, 2012 looks like we are close to having a stable ICS ROM for daily use it's not close, it is stable now...... :)
Guest PedroVader Posted February 25, 2012 Report Posted February 25, 2012 12 hours since new kernel flash, not a reboot in sight, unless it did it while i was asleep :lol:smooth as silk now. Had it on and off USB no hangs..Lalit has cracked it now for sure...might try MIUI later on though. Only reason to use CM7 or stock now is for a camera, so looks like I'm sticking with ICS.

Guest MCZQ Posted February 25, 2012 Report Posted February 25, 2012 Hi tilal6991, I am interested to hear what you think the issue is with Tom's kernel. Will you be pushing any sort of fix?
Guest ogbass54 Posted February 25, 2012 Report Posted February 25, 2012 i followed The instructions and flashed The Rom but it reboots every 15-20 minutes. can you help mehr :(
Guest bulazs Posted February 25, 2012 Report Posted February 25, 2012 No freezes or reboots with new kernel! Nice! Has anybody tested movie playback? I used MX Video Player with its codec pack, trying to play the videos i converted for my phone earlier with ffmpeg. They are playing nice on cm7, with hardware decoding But on ICS, they are playing only on sw, or sw fast, and they are laggy, unenjoyable. Maybe use a different player? Or hardware decoding is not supposed to work anyway? The format i used for encoding: -acodec libfaac -ab 128k -ar 44100 -vcodec mpeg4 -b 1000K -s 800x340 With .mp4 container
Guest sergeant_tito Posted February 25, 2012 Report Posted February 25, 2012 flashed rom, flashed kernel installed link2sd, mount ext partition reboot and it says trebuchet stopped working...pull out battery boot again nothing changened...still not working...help!

This kernel doesn't have support for ext2/3
Guest sergeant_tito Posted February 25, 2012 Report Posted February 25, 2012 link2sd will not work. This kernel doesn't have support for ext2/3 well then im something extra :D all apps succesfully linked 2 SD :D
Guest bulazs Posted February 25, 2012 Report Posted February 25, 2012 well then im something extra :D all apps succesfully linked 2 SD :D :o Interesting! As Tilal posted: The kernel has no support for ext2/3/4 I have not tested it myself though.
Guest balambuc Posted February 25, 2012 Report Posted February 25, 2012 Can anyone tell me why market fc-ing for me? I used the latest kerel and I done everything mentioned here
Guest plegdroid Posted February 25, 2012 Report Posted February 25, 2012 Can anyone tell me why market fc-ing for me? I used the latest kerel and I done everything mentioned here not sure if market is down, I get server error. did work a few hours ago :!
Guest plegdroid Posted February 25, 2012 Report Posted February 25, 2012 (edited) well then im something extra :D all apps succesfully linked 2 SD :D do they show in ex part? cm9 states i can move mine, but I can't find any a-sec folder where they would normally be moved to. cm may say yes, but kernel may say no. the kernel is in charge of everything, so may be misleading :) Edited February 25, 2012 by plegdroid

Guest Andymac1969 Posted February 25, 2012 Report Posted February 25, 2012 This is doing my head in!! Followed the instructions as given, and everytime I flash the new kernel and reboot, I get trebuchet has stopped working, and i'm stuck as I cannot get past that message, am I doing something wrong? Any ideas? Andrew
Guest JThumar Posted February 25, 2012 Report Posted February 25, 2012 USB card is not getting accessed from music player in MIUI.....anyone having that issue ?
Guest nathanmarck Posted February 25, 2012 Report Posted February 25, 2012 (edited) In my experience the best way to install CM9 and the kernel is: 1. Format /system 2. Flash rom 3. Data Wipe 4. Reboot 5. GApps 6. Kernel 7. GO GO GO Also if those intructions aren't followed it comes up with around 32 applications to be optimized while doing it the above way comes with 63-64. Maybe something to look into? EDIT: SystemUI keeps crashing leaving me with no status bar... Time to re-flash all over again. EDIT2: Flashing CM9 again without doing anything else (So just flashing no formatting, wiping, or touching anything other than flash custom zip) fixed all my problems and no reboots or anything Nice work! Guest C3C0 Posted February 25, 2012 Report Posted February 25, 2012 ext2 is there for sure. The system will not work at all without it. So using Link2SD with ext2 should work.
Guest balambuc Posted February 25, 2012 Report Posted February 25, 2012 BTW... @ tilal have u made any progress with the camera?

Guest plegdroid Posted February 25, 2012 Report Posted February 25, 2012 (edited) but market still shouldn't crash if servers are down that would be a very big fail from google could try reflash gapps without wipeing anything :) Edited February 25, 2012 by plegdroid
Guest Andymac1969 Posted February 25, 2012 Report Posted February 25, 2012 I basically reflashed the same rom over the top of the rom l had on, then without leaving cwm flashed the new kernel, this is all without wiping anything at all. pulled the battery out, back in again, turned on the phone with the power button and let it boot. it doesn't seem to like booting out of cwm with this rom, I just never get past the splash screen, so just pulled the battery and turned with the power button :) current status= this rom is currently being abused and maltreated like a bad dog, and it's coming back for more wagging it's tail.... Just followed this and get 'trebuchet has stopped working' Grrrrrrrrr
