Guest skywave Posted December 20, 2011 Report Posted December 20, 2011 Thank you that you did not post on the dev-thread, some guys really seam to be just to stupid. They are lucky I'm no moderator here. However I'm moderator on Android-Hilfe.de, made the thread there that is mentioned on the dev-thread and in your post and can answer your questions. While Alpha4 had a workaround for the timezone-bug that cause some handsets to reboot (depending on the network operator) Alpha5 has a real fix for the cause, so you can now set the right timezone on the settings or can get it from the network. Graphics are slightly better than Alpha4. Remaining Problems with Alpha5: -Camera -Graphics (partly), some livewallpapers, youtube and maps won't work, some things are flipped upside down, gallery is fixed as opposed to alpha4 -SU is broken, Tom_G said because it's Android 4.0.3, some user on the german thread said he only needed to flash the right su.zip. (su was working on alpha4) -default browser is broken, just doesn't load anything. Opera Mobile works for me. (default browser was working in alpha4) -only single touch Compared to the aosp-updates cm9 performs around the same, but some more things are fixed, like the sound routing works perfectly, calendar sync works and the SD is properly mounted to the pc over usb. However I'd still not recommend it for newbs or daily use. Naturally CM9 also has some extra options added, reboot menu, screenshot functionality in the power-menu, extra options for the launcher ("Trebuchet"). A lot of thanks to the CM-crew and Tom_G! Edit: And yeah, it's Gen2, and yeah, you will have problems to fit this and the GApps inside a 160MB partition. I'm on 210mb. Also be warned that you may need to link the cache to /data. Actually in the other rom the timezones and sync etc. were also fixed ;)
Guest jeddy1 Posted December 20, 2011 Report Posted December 20, 2011 Maybe yes but this rom has more features and it should be more fast since its playing angry birds also ;)
Guest jeddy1 Posted December 20, 2011 Report Posted December 20, 2011 Davidoff59 did you try to play any song with it? How long is/was your test? Did you had any reboot or smth? I had reboots with update17 when I was browsing!
Guest Davidoff59 Posted December 20, 2011 Report Posted December 20, 2011 (edited) I still have the rom on as I can text and phone fine.

I edited my post above as I had said that music on the sd card wasnt found, but it reappeared. Music saved on sd card plays fine on speaker.

The icon is not coming up when headphones are plugged in but I can confirm that music plays on headphones.

All sounds, notifications, calls work. Slight delay/echo in telephony but usable

I had one full reboot but i was overclocked to 729mhz.

Apps that dont work as listed above just force close and dont cause a full reboot.

Picture editing in the gallery also works..

Opera mini works fine, stock browser does not work

Antutu benchmark was 991 at stock speed. 1241 at 691mhz.. neither test gave any score for sd card read or write though so results will be higher

Edited December 20, 2011 by Davidoff59
Guest FelixL Posted December 20, 2011 Report Posted December 20, 2011 (edited) Maybe yes but this rom has more features and it should be more fast since its playing angry birds also ;) Guys, please don't make it a "my ROM is better than yours". Actually both teams are doing a pretty good and hard work, and I think the ROMs profit von each others found fixes. @Skywave: Sorry, didn't know, never tried the latest update. Great it works on AOSP, too :). Didn't even think that so much people used the calendar, always ignored it till today. Edit: And can confirm the SU-thing mentioned above works. Guest jeddy1 Posted December 20, 2011 Report Posted December 20, 2011 Ok thanks for making you fingers tired :P That means the rom is going great for now :)
Guest jeddy1 Posted December 20, 2011 Report Posted December 20, 2011 (edited) No no FelixL sorry but u misunderstood me. I don't mean that someone fix better than other or smth like that.I just explained that cm9 alpha 5 have few features more than update17 and of course because CYANOGENMOD had always more features than every rom or not!? I thank everyone who tried and is trying for any roms ,fixes and ideas for our blade Edited December 20, 2011 by jeddy1
Guest Davidoff59 Posted December 20, 2011 Report Posted December 20, 2011 (edited) The superuser above does work, so pass it on to Tom_G if it will help him. I think its version Su binary 3.0.0 included in the rom, but there was an update available to 3.0.2. Trying to do it through superuser will not work, it says it cant get root or something similar, so i downloaded the newer binary through rom manager, rebooted, flashed it at startup, rebooted and it worked. I am over clocked so it definately works. edit, 3.0.3 comes with the rom, needs to have 3.0.3.2 flashed to gain root Edited December 20, 2011 by Davidoff59

Guest jackal-sk Posted December 20, 2011 Report Posted December 20, 2011 Is Tom_G the only person from CyanogenMod team working on CM9 for Blade ?
Guest Davidoff59 Posted December 20, 2011 Report Posted December 20, 2011 Jackal, from here http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Community_Members Jacob Crawley Maintains the HTC Wildfire & ZTE Blade vendors. Tom Giordano Maintains the Huawei U8220 & ZTE Blade vendors.
Guest supermies123 Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 I can't install Gapps for Blade ARMv6 package. It just says Error (Status 6). Why is that? I used TPTv10 so the system partition should be large enough.

Guest Davidoff59 Posted December 21, 2011 Report Posted December 21, 2011 the gapps on the first page of this thread works. if you downloaded gapps from the tomm13b github,, then I don't think they work.I think the file name was gapps for armv6 vfp or something similar that wouldn't work for me either.

Guest Davidoff59 Posted January 5, 2012 Report Posted January 5, 2012 19c was very slow for me but dual touch works so its getting there
Guest t0mm13b Posted January 5, 2012 Report Posted January 5, 2012 19c was very slow for me but dual touch works so its getting there Disable the animation completely and you'll notice the performance gain! ;)
Guest Davidoff59 Posted January 5, 2012 Report Posted January 5, 2012 I had both animations disabled tommi13b. I tried another ics rom with animations on and it was much smoother and faster than 19c with animations off. This isn't a dig at you tommi or anyone working on this rom. I'm looking forward to this and I will use it when its ready to roll. Its very hard giving feedback that doesn't sound like a Person is complaining. The above isn't a complaint and I appreciate devs. working on this for us all. Don't take offence as none is intended.

Guest Davidoff59 Posted January 5, 2012 Report Posted January 5, 2012 No you don't sound negative at all. Its just hard to converse over forum, and some things can be taken in the wrong way when its not intended so I wanted to make sure you knew what I was saying. I know you are working hard on this rom so didn't want any offense taken. Where in Ireland are you from?. Donegal here
