Guest dr.flo Posted February 20, 2012 Report Posted February 20, 2012 Note the issue with the TXG OC kernel and branch froyo I mention above. Whats the issue? "this boot.img does not seem to work correctly with the "branch froyo", CM6.2.0 RC0" Does that mean it doesn't boot - or it boots and behaves badly afterwards?
Guest arlindo.costa Posted February 20, 2012 Report Posted February 20, 2012 (edited) Glad it is working. However, I don't think that boot.img will work with 6.2.0 RC0 (branch froyo). I'm still testing, but something seems very wrong when used with that rom. I was using it just fine with 6.1.1, so it seems there are other things different about the two branches. Edit: I don't have the ability to recompile the kernel to set the max speed. And, I can't boot a kernel with a max speed over 691. And I can't even run the system for more than a few seconds at 691 speed without a reboot. Seems my CPU is fairly weak. I'm also using the latest CM 6.2 (cm6-u8220-20120202-v2.zip) with oc750 and have had no issues over the last 2 days. Battery life also looks very good indeed. :-) CM6.2 Framework themes give me boot loops. Great work guys.... Edited February 20, 2012 by arlindo.costa
Guest desalesouche Posted February 20, 2012 Report Posted February 20, 2012 so it seems that oc 750 zip working fine with cm6.2 and that CM61-OCbootimg-TWfix614 is working fine with cm6.1
Guest dr.flo Posted February 20, 2012 Report Posted February 20, 2012 (edited) so it seems that oc 750 zip working fine with cm6.2 and that CM61-OCbootimg-TWfix614 is working fine with cm6.1 I don't know how these images were composed but it might be that ramdisks inside boot image differ. Can anyone else confirm to have a working OC variant on branch froyo rom (the original rom, aka cm6-u8220-20120202.zip (or -v2).... I had cm6-u8220-20120202 running with kernel .32 (supports OC) without issues - apart from wifi resume. So basically there should be nothing wrong with OC in that rom. Guest hzf Posted February 20, 2012 Report Posted February 20, 2012 CM6.2 Framework themes give me boot loops. had the same, I think it is related to the newer sources. I used OUT kitchen to re-create my own theme

Guest Shiny Shoes Posted February 20, 2012 Report Posted February 20, 2012 downloaded froyo-stable but there is no way I can install market, tried with minimalistic gapps, gapps with gmail and cyanogen official gaps.

If so, it is Froyo 2.2.2 - very new rom. (Ascend is the same, but most of u8150 roms around are 2.2.1 )

Guest felip3 Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 (edited) ok, myabe this is a stupid question but i cant install none of the OC zip neither in 0202 or 0206. i think im missing something, in clockwork recovery i get "Amend scripting (update-script) is no longer supported. Amend scripting was deprecated by Google in Android 1.5" i did format system and wiped cache-factory reset beforehand. what i am missing? tnx in advance, my phone is nicer than ever :D nermind. i switched to clockwork recovery 2.5 and was able to install the bootimg Edited February 21, 2012 by felip3

Guest twrock Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 (edited) Whats the issue? "this boot.img does not seem to work correctly with the "branch froyo", CM6.2.0 RC0" Does that mean it doesn't boot - or it boots and behaves badly afterwards? I only verified that it consistently did not allow any cellular data connection. That was the immediate "glaring" problem. I did not continue to try to use it because I wanted to test a working version of 6.2. I have different installable boot.img's on my SD card, so switching back and forth is simple enough. The lack of cellular data connection was consistent behavior for that OC boot.img I uploaded. But that boot.img worked well for the stable branch (6.1.1). [see edit below] If anyone else is testing these roms, something I'd like to compare is percentage of time at each CPU speed. The Market app Android System Info has a tab called "System" under which you can tap "CPU" and see what percentage of time is spent at each CPU speed. I have noticed that FTB seems to spend a high percentage of its time at 245mhz, which of course is good. I'd like to know how these Froyo roms compares. So if you are willing, please install that app and after a day of use, report your findings (along with which rom and some description of how heavily you were using you phone). Thanks edit: Forget everything I said about the OC boot.img from the TXG rom. The 6.1.1 rom I have been using up until now for testing was v.1 of the rom that dr.flo released. I was making my own modifications along the way, not downloading his latest version until recently. At this point I'm not able to figure out what works or doesn't. Maybe someone else can figure the pattern out better than I. I think I'll just restore the nandroid backup of the working version I had with OC and keep using that. Edited February 21, 2012 by twrock
Guest twrock Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 (Give up that easy? Nah.) ;) Ok, if anyone is willing to test this boot.img besides me, here it is: CM6bootimg-Starkos691TomRD-528def_swap30.zip Starkos 691mhz max kernel, Tom's ramdisk, 528mhz default, swappy30. All I can say is that it is working for me at the moment with 6.1.1 (froyo stable). But I've done some modification to the rom, so YMMV.

Guest twrock Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 hi,will test it....if i can help can you explain a little what you want to be tested? thx Thanks for testing. The problem I had previously was with cellular data connectivity. (Wifi was fine.) Also, I'm curious if it works as well on 6.2, or only on 6.1.1.

Guest desalesouche Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 (edited) i think i might have found a little solution to make volume a bit louder in cm6.1/cm6.2/cm7.2...if somebody wanna test and confirm? it is a lib file. copy it in system/lib reboot and test...i will advice you to test before and after pasting it with audiometer or decibelmeter something like that ....i am not audio specialist... will apreciate feed back thx :) here's the link http://www.mediafire...rdacn15a505mbyy EDIT: i believe that adding that second file to system/etc give more louder volume.... here's the link http://www.mediafire...0d6oc02cn0g8xb0 please test with first file and after that with both...and tell me  you can test with euterpe free... link to euterpe free http://www.slmsolutions.be/Euterpe.html Edited February 22, 2012 by desalesouche

Where are you noticing the difference? I've been using that 691 OC boot.img for most of a day with 6.1.1. No problems encountered at all. (Although I just leave it at the 528 default speed.) Up to now I've had a low-use day, and the battery life has been excellent.

Guest twrock Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 it is working for me on cm 6.2 :) edit: version 20120202 with fixes I don't know if it has anything at all to do with what I saw yesterday, but all I can say is that my combination of the 6.1.1 (froyo stable) and this boot.img resulted in a day of fantastic battery life. I have never seen that kind of battery life from any of the previous CM6 roms I used or modified. Maybe just a one-day fluke? I don't know. I'll have to use it over a longer period of time to really know. But other than the periodic glitch while synchronizing and using the Market simultaneously ("Market not responding" > wait), this rom seems to be very stable and has great battery life. Today I thought I'd run it at 614mhz and see how much that effects battery life. As long as the CPU is dropping back to 245 while the phone is not in use, I suspect there won't be a huge hit on battery use. I have noticed by looking at the stats that the CPU either runs at max or min speeds, spending only a minuscule amount of time at anything in between. So for battery savings, it seems what is really important is how quickly it will drop back to 245. This rom/boot.img seems to do that very quickly. For full disclosure, I edited two lines in init.qcom.rc: write /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq 528000 write /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/ondemand/sampling_rate 200000 [for some reason Tom had this set to 20000, but his rom is the only place I've seen the number that low, so I concluded it was a typo and changed it] And added this line to init.rc: write /proc/sys/vm/swappiness 30

But I still intend to do so. I also want to test the DSP Manager in this rom to see what help that might be. Regarding the loudspeaker, currently I do not have the volume all of the way up for that. If I turn it all the way up, it becomes distorted. I fear that an even louder volume will damage the speaker. What I want to achieve is louder phone call speaker and louder headphone volume when playing music.
Guest twrock Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 it is working for me on cm 6.2 :) edit: version 20120202 with fixes Did you flash the installable zip I uploaded after you had an installed rom, or did you add it to the rom before installing? I'm trying to establish what is happening with some strange patterns I've been seeing when installing modifications of these two roms.
