Guest sandozer Posted August 29, 2012 Report Posted August 29, 2012 I have downloaded and installed NavFree and find it excellent. It is absolutely free, no network required, maps are downloaded onto the Nexus 7, Gives great voice guidance and 2d/3d map view. I am doing a road trip in the US next month and the US version, also free allows state by state map loading. Amazing piece of software.
Guest mrrog Posted September 3, 2012 Report Posted September 3, 2012 I use navfree, but also use osmand which is same price and same features, but better maps and nav engine, though voice guidance not quite so sultry. You can also make your own maps for osmand using its own map maker or mobac, both fairly intuitive. However its big advantage for me is its ability to accept gpx tracks/routes for waypoint navigation, just used it to come back from burgundy avoiding most toll roads. Best gpx route/track maker I know of is bikehike, which I find very intuitive.
