Time machine and UK/Hungarian/TRE rom will give you /system of 110Mb AFAIK. Suerte

hola...i have a u8230, so i am suppose to have Internal =256 MB RAM.

when i look at internal storage i see :total space=80.25 and avalaible space=51.58 so it makes=131.83 MB

so i think(realise) that there is something wrong?

shouldn't i have a

Space Total: 220 MB or more like jgilalonso?

Space Available: 37.3 MB

so i am wondering if i should reflash original firmware? would it give me back the missing Mb?

@desalesouche

available space=Total space - Used space

I think that your /system have 80 MB

Can you execute df -k /system?

How you can reflash original firmware?

What ROM will you flash?

112640/1024= 110

You have a 110 MB in your /system partition.

Sometime I supposo that you installed a TRE or UK ROM

I don't understand why you see 80 MB in Total space.

yes.you might be right.. i might have installed TRE long time ago to install cm7 etc..., ignoring what i was doing...

i found original stock dload ...will try to flash it to see what happen.... ( :unsure: it is a little scary... :D )

Why do you want return to an original stock?

Perhaps you want to have more space in the /system.

I don't know what happens with the rest of space when you flash an official ROM and it change the partition table.

Do you know?

no , i don't.

i want to return to original stock to see if i would have "200MB" partition back. may be i shouldn't have flash TRE?

edit: i think that everything is ok...i won't flash stock i found answer here.... http://www.modaco.co...m/#entry1954250

so not worth to flash to stock...my phone is ok...

edit 2 : now i am confused. is there something wrong ? what should i do? reflash stock rom or the tre?

Hi Desalesouche,

Back to the issue at hand, I still haven't found the time to start taking the kernel apart/attempt a compile of ar6000.ko.

Another question you may be able to help me with though, how do you recommend I edit the framework-res.apk file? apktool?? I am trying to remove the additional languages I do not use.

If your phone is OK...I don't flash.

My phone have a lot of problems and I prefer try with Original ROM.

After, I'll flash a Custom ROM....surely Onyx.

What ROM do you recomend me for your kernel?

What ROM are you using?

It's possible that you upload your ROM with your newest kernel

Thanks

@jgilalonso

Another thought, If you say your phone is running out of space (is Android complaining?) It could be your /data partition is full. try the command:

df -k /data

If you prefer not to use terminal,I can recommend:

Link2sd app tells me where my hard disk space is being used up (diskusage app too for that matter is excellent for ths purpose and does only that)

System panel app/task manager is very good at telling you where your RAM is being used

It sounds like your Android OS is fine, just a few changes required for stability. Hope this helps.

@Pedro Jaime.

Yes, I have Link2SD app. My storage is the next:

Interna (15% libre)

/data --> Total: 222 MB Usado: 187 MB Libre: 35,24 MB

Sistema (49% libre)

/system --> Total: 170 MB Usado: 86,48 Libre: 83,52 MB

2ª Particion en tarjeta SD (79% libre)

/data/sdext2 --> Total: 540 MB Usado: 110 MB Libre:430 MB

How I can free storage in /data?

With diskusage: (in /data)

dalvik-cache: 98,3 MB

app: 39,4 MB

data: 33,9 MB

system data: 10,8 MB

Free Space: 35,2 MB

i would advice apkmultitools for linux, 2nd link

you can use many tools :here is some links about that: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1310151

i am using one of the last cm7 i have tweaked.

i will upload you later 2 roms :-cm7.2 and also 2.3.7 cyanmobile experience cm7.2rc3.5 with 2 differents kernels.one with optimization in init.rc and one withour optimization.

so you can choose the rom you want, and also test kernel. i will add frandom and crossbreeder also, so you can enjoy .

please give feed back about kernel ( by egg if the one with optimization is more battery drain than the other , etc)

will upload later as i am busy now.

the "best" rom is supposed to be styx from twrock( may his phone rest in peace...)

@desalesouche, Pedro Jaime,

I've found other U8220 (from a colleage) with the Original 1.5 Stock ROM...with 165 MB Internal storage available.

Compilation number: U8220V100R001C00B275SP01

Kernel version: 2.627-perf

huawei@l-clustor02#1

Do you known if it's possible extract dload information from Stock ROM to flash in my phone?

EDIT: With this STOCK ROM we could obtain a /system greater.

so here is what i have been doing i did reinstall original stock rom for u8230 france bouygues telecom...

it was funny about the look etc...i did have a quick look in internal storage and it was only showing 73 MB.

right now i am trying to flash the tre update..

edit: df -k /system give me: /system 112640k total 104448k used 8192k block size 4096) on tre update. will try another update.

but it seems that i still have the same system partition size. 112640/1024=110 will edit again...

If we could obtain the system partition of my ROM...

Any ideas?

EDIT: Which are the benefits getting a greater system partition?

The majority of ROMs are OK for the 110 MB partition.

hey guys what about to try to port kernel 2.6.35 for our pulse?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=911828

the htc heroc have the same spec than the pulse.and there is a github with source of it.

https://github.com/s0be/cm-kernel

i think that the thing to manage to do it is to port the 2.6.35 to 2.6.32.9 cos if we try to do the contrary, there is some file i can't properly paste.

so who's going to help me? Unity is strength...

Posted

Is there any important pros if we can run kernel 2.6.35. Doesn't kernel 2.6.35 need more performance?

The days of the pulse are done. and the days of pulse.modaco.com too.

Although, I am using this kernel.

And.....ITS OVER.

BYE FOREVER.

hi all. after compiling and building for u8860 , i know now how to do what i wanted for u8220 and 8230.

so i will try to make a last build for u8220/8230 with kernel upgraded to 2.6.32.60 or 2.6.3.61 with working wifi modules etc....

hope i will manage.from theory to something w<orking there is a big step...i think it might be one of the last work i will do for u8220/8230...

for myself first and then for all other people who still own that device... i will try also to leave how -to for next generation of owner and builder...(may be i dream new dev generation?)
