Guest atic Posted May 5, 2013 Report Posted May 5, 2013 I tried to unlock my T-mobile Vivacity following the instructions here http://www.getandroi...acity-for-free/ and now my phone gets stuck on CWM based recovery v4.0.1.5. The up and down keys work but I can not select anything by pressing the home key as it does not respond. How can I update CWM recovery to a later version as at the moment I can't do anything. If I start up holding the down key I get the FTM logo.
Guest atic Posted May 5, 2013 Report Posted May 5, 2013 How can I add stock rom in update.zip if the Home key isn't working? If I scroll down back key enabled appears on the screen, I have tried using the power button at this point but still noting happens.
Guest benoiscool Posted May 5, 2013 Report Posted May 5, 2013 go to ZTE web site look up device in downloads follow instructions it will flash your phone back to 2.3.5
Guest dodgetimmy Posted May 6, 2013 Report Posted May 6, 2013 If you place cwm 6 on this forum in an folder named image and rename the .bin file too image.bin then it will install when you just turn on the phone. You'll need an sd card reader or to get into android to do that though.
Guest atic Posted May 6, 2013 Report Posted May 6, 2013 I made a backup with QPST, if I install a differant CWM version it will not allow me to restore my backup as it says "One very important note! Backups created with the older recovery won't work with the new version"
Guest atic Posted May 6, 2013 Report Posted May 6, 2013 From here http://www.getandroidfree.com/advanced/sim-unlock/updated-unlock-your-t-mobile-vivacity-for-free/ Steps 1-7, are done steps 8-10, I can't do because I cant enable debugging mode steps 11-16, I can re-do and I have a backup from step 12 step 16, I can't do as I cannot select anything with the Home key, or the power button. Is there anyway to apply sdcard:update.zip? I don't think the phone is rooted. Can I flash CWM with ADB commands?
Guest surfungus Posted May 6, 2013 Report Posted May 6, 2013 Hi atic I think I've just had this problem, it wont let you select usb debugging? Try steps 8 to 10 again (leave it for a few minutes) and see if you get a windows update. If not here's a link to the ADB method. http://sanfranciscoandroid.co.uk/android/how-to-install-clockworkmod-recovery-on-the-orange-san-francisco-ii-zte-crescent/
Guest atic Posted May 11, 2013 Report Posted May 11, 2013 No no luck because I can not do steps 8 to 10. When I turn on the phone I get this screen http://www.jayceooi.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/SGS2-ClockworkMod-Recovery-Mode.jpg except it is called CWM-based Recovery v4.0.1.5. I can use the volume keys to move up and down but can not select anything else because none of the capacitive keys work. Same problem as this thread from last year http://www.modaco.com/topic/353458-cant-use-capacitive-buttons-in-clockworkmod-please-help/
Guest dodgetimmy Posted May 12, 2013 Report Posted May 12, 2013 Sounds like you have installed cwm on your boot partition instead of recovery. You'll need to use adb in ftm mode via your pc to revert to stock tpt and recovery/rom. I'm afraid this is beyond my knowledge.
Guest surfungus Posted May 13, 2013 Report Posted May 13, 2013 Don't know if you've seen this or not, It's save a few devices. Maybe worth a try...http://www.modaco.com/topic/354290-how-tosave-your-dead-vivacity/
