*** HOW TO PORT F1 TD-SCDMA ROMS to WCDMA ***

eg. download an F1 MIUI ROM from http://en.miui.com/download-208.html There are 2 developers to choose from, both worked fine for me, I stayed with the XS one as it had more options in Stock Settings.

Get 7zip

On your rooted F1 stock rom (mine was 015) copy the /etc/firmware directory (all files and subfolders) to your PC

Open the downloaded miui rom with 7zip, navigate to system/etc/firmware

Copy all the files you took from your stock rom /etc/firmware into system/etc/firmware in this miui zip overwriting all the files/subfolders.

There will now be 2 extra files you don't need as they are TD-SCDMA only (modem_1_tg_n.img and catcher_filter_1_tg_n.bin)

The WCDMA files we now have are (modem_1_wg_n.img and catcher_filter_1_wg_n.bin)

(Please copy the full directory and subfolders, NOT just these 2 files)

Now exit 7zip and copy the modified miui zip to your phone and flash. I used CWM 6.0.3.0. I have had TWRP on my phone but not tested flashing this ROM with it.

I would be happy to try this with the files from the new 026 firmware if anyone can send me the full /etc/firmware from it.

looked at both images and do not have the wireless update, went back to coolpad UI and still did not appear, had a look through root browser > apps could not find an app that looked like it.... as dakok does not have it maybe it was not present on 015

You can also check from system update settings. There is two options "auto check for update" and "download package via WIFI". Just clear everything and chose first "auto check for update" then "download package via WIFI". The second screenshot should appear.

This is exactly what I did with xs MIUI rom to make it running. But now I am in search of solution to really pooooor video recording. I tested it yesterday, and on 1080 i in dark room it was doing only 6-7fps, while stock ROM (as well as LewaOS) did around 17fps. But I doubt it could be solved as easily... anyway MIUI is great, apart from video recording.

Mmmm, not tried video recording yet. Did you try with the other miui rom by slydermi. I think I read on the XS one was using the camera from the Xiaomi Redmi Hongmi Redrice whatever they call it lol.

no root, no change. the rom is still half chinese and the most annoying thing - the only app i actually BOUGHT from the market (swiftkey) i cannot use since the bloody rom uninstalls it on its own and forces me to use their keyboard... getting REALLY annoyed here...

Hello . Have you repair your Coolpad F1? I need help after formating sd card with the note 3 rom- the phone is not working

I notice that the MIUI ROM posted on needrom has just been updated. Don't think it has anything to do with the 026 update, but it may be worth a try to see if there are any GPS/video recording issues on that one.

I am author of this ROM on needrom... Its just XS ROM modded to run WCDMA and with additional languages. Slydermi ROM has the same problem. Yesterday I wanted to do some recording indoors in the evening and it was simply terrible... spent whole night trying to change libs in XS from stock v. 15 but was unable to acquire booting ROM... always hanged on MI logo...

@qwazar87 looks like you soft-bricked your phone, didn't you read the first post saying that flashing with sdcard inserted could very well lead to soft brick?

@emjot

is there a way to root one of the latest (maybe even the latest) version of the rom? all i am looking for really is to change my rom. please help, nothing worked so far - vroot, snsroot, flash tools...

(In reply to emjot)

I'd imagine that the camera hardware on the Redmi/Hongmi/Whatevermi is somewhat different to that on the Coolpad F1. I'd assume that different hardware will require different software support so perhaps the libs don't match up very well with that the camera software is expecting.

Have you tried installing a different camera app to see if that makes any kind of a difference? There are plenty to choose from!

I've also just tried to record a video using the camera on the phone. Only 720p and this obviously seemed smooth enough, but there was some interference in the recording - a sort of fast moving wave effect flickering through the image.

I'm using the AOSP port by Jonzalvo so perhaps there is an issue with the camera on this as well? Does anybody encounter a similar interference problem using the Coollife UI and the stock camera app?

Video recording isn't of great importance to me, but it would be nice if there weren't such recording artifacts!
