Guest goodfella123 Posted May 30, 2014 Report Posted May 30, 2014 (edited) Thanks for the video dakok. Could i use nova launcher over the miui home screen to bring back some resemblance of old roms? edit: forgot to ask - in the official 015 rom are there any chinese apps that should NOT be uninstalled? Edited May 30, 2014 by goodfella123
Guest dakok Posted May 30, 2014 Report Posted May 30, 2014 (edited) I think that you can use other launchers, too. You can even switch off lockscreen in Miui if you like :) You can uninstall everything that you can find under settings -> apps -> downloaded There are some other apps that can be removed, but you have to be careful there. There is an option of freezing apps in Titanium Backup software If you have a nandroid backup - you are safe (not 100%, though :)) Edited May 30, 2014 by dakok
Guest pletko Posted May 30, 2014 Report Posted May 30, 2014 I was very surprised and annoyed when jonzalvo's note 3 rom forced me to install some chinese game. It kept standing in my notification drawer and i couldn't clear it from the list. Once i accidentally clicked it and it installed. I uninstalled it and very soon it appeared again. Frustrated, i tried some other roms. One is too silent. Other doesn't have keyboard. Another is totally crap. Another is chinese. I returned to jonzalvo's note 3 rom and now i am waiting for that game to appear in my notification drawer again. Not satisfied. As for the miui rom, i was never a big fan of the interface since it reminded me of iOS and i couldn't change the launcher. Another thing was the modem. My signal was significantly weaker on miui so i gave it up too
Guest slime00 Posted May 30, 2014 Report Posted May 30, 2014 (edited) Hey man, after the odyssey you had rooting the phone, you shouldn't be so picky! :D Pure AOSP is just fine, you could try to raise the volume using Mobileuncletools, there was a guide on THIS spanish forum. Guest dakok Posted May 30, 2014 Report Posted May 30, 2014 (edited) Pletko, here is one especially for you :) Maiyujian made a Slim Factory 015 rom He removed almost everything from factory rom. There is a lot of icons on desktop and in app drawer, but those are only icons and can be deleted. All that is left is 16 main apps! I am uploading it now, will be up tomorrow :) EDIT: He removed too much, it seems, no way to make google play work :( Edited May 31, 2014 by dakok
Guest goodfella123 Posted May 31, 2014 Report Posted May 31, 2014 dakok, i appear to have lost root using MIUI rom v03, is this the same for you? I tried all previous steps (framaroot, superuser, supersu, mobileuncle) but nothing works. Is MIUI rom v03 based on the dreaded 021?
Guest dakok Posted May 31, 2014 Report Posted May 31, 2014 (edited) No you havent :D Every MIUI has root, but you have to look inside settings or security app to enable it. I downloaded Lewa 126 from YDSS (don't know the actual source right now), removed a lot of chinese apps (removed keyboard, too) and set it to english UI Coolpad_F1_WCDMA_Lewa_v126_BareBone_eng Keyboard Gapps Installation instructions: - Download zip file (rom), keyboard app and Gapps and transfer that to SDcard - Turn on debugging on your phone, turn off quick boot, turn off phone (some folks remove battery now:)) - Press vol. up and power button together for at least 10 seconds. - You are in CWM now (probably) - Wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition - Mounts and storage: Format System, Cache, Data. Go back - Advanced: Wipe Dalvik cache, Reboot recovery - Install zip from SDcard -> choose zip -> your rom (zip) - Reboot to system Leave your phone now for 5 minutes, let it take a breath. Open Lewa File manager and install the keyboard Activate the keyboard Turn the phone off - Press vol. up and power button together for at least 10 seconds. - You are in CWM now (probably) - Install zip from SDcard -> choose zip -> gapps (zip) - When done - Go Back - Reboot Root is there, just have to dig a bit to find it, just like in Miui Edit: After few hours of testing - nothing special. Install it if you are bored :) Edited May 31, 2014 by dakok
Guest h3dshot Posted May 31, 2014 Report Posted May 31, 2014 Can somebody tell me about MAC addresses and how they are stored, are they in the phone or on the ROM. I installed jonzalvo note3 rom which works fine as it changed the MAC address I wanted to get rid of, but I do not understand why it changed the MAC address which I thought was contained in the heart of the phone, unless the MAC address is contained within the ROM. Tonight I flashed the coolpad v20 rom, started it up and it changed the MAC address back to the same one as the other coolpad we have, anybody able to advise why / where and how this MAC address changes around. Also is it possible to hack the v20 ROM about to change it within it, if indeed that's where it is. I was almost sure that the mac address is stored in the phone system. It wouldn't make sense for it to be stored in the rom, its a unique identifier for the phone :S (or at least it should be)
Guest goodfella123 Posted May 31, 2014 Report Posted May 31, 2014 (edited) dakok, i read it had to be turned on in settings - but could i find it? No :( Here's what i had to do: Go to settings - display - change default launcher from nova launcher and restore the system launcher. The security app then appeared on the homescreen so i pressed it. Then i selected permission and found the root permission button. :) Out of interest: Do you have permission manager turned on? (just above where root permission is). Do i now need to install superSU or any of the others? Edited May 31, 2014 by goodfella123
Guest h3dshot Posted May 31, 2014 Report Posted May 31, 2014 formatted to fat32 and copied my files back across, now the phone recognises the card but thinks it's empty even though it's a 16gb card showing as 10 out of 14gb free :S
Guest goodfella123 Posted May 31, 2014 Report Posted May 31, 2014 h3dshot, the main thing is that you have a backup of all your files on PC before doing anything else. Does a reboot not sort the problem? If not take the card out and see if your PC can still see files on it. Perhaps do another format on PC and insert card into the phone blank then reboot. If that sorts it, shut down then take card out and copy files back onto it. Reboot phone. (check with someone else on here that the above won't screw anything up). The problem may be that the card possibly should have been formatted to fat32 before starting anything. I only say this as i formatted my card to fat32 before inserting it into the phone for the first time. Let us know how you get on. ps. Please can you edit your post 650 to remove dakok's quote so we don't see the video he posted twice on the same page. Thanks.

Yep will do, i've just spent the last couple hours moving stuff off memory cards, and i've reformatted it thoroughly to fat32. Just copying my files back onto it now and will throw it back into the phone as soon as its done. Will update you guys when its done.
Guest h3dshot Posted May 31, 2014 Report Posted May 31, 2014 update: did a thorough format and put the files back on. Phone now recognises the card and it's contents :) Also my silicon case arrived today too :D
Guest goodfella123 Posted May 31, 2014 Report Posted May 31, 2014 Good stuff. If you're happy with everything, why not do another CWM backup as it saves a lot of time when you want to go back.
Guest h3dshot Posted May 31, 2014 Report Posted May 31, 2014 yep its on my to do list, only have root and gapps, both came preinstalled. I'll get round to getting CWM onto it
Guest pheadweb Posted May 31, 2014 Report Posted May 31, 2014 if it's possible, please upload a small video sample in day and low light just for review
Guest dakok Posted May 31, 2014 Report Posted May 31, 2014 (edited) Now testing another Color OS release. Previous one was looking very good but it wasn't fluent. This one is extremely good, so far. Coolpad F1 Color OS Rom (Oppo OS) Link Download - for a fast download, check this (Fast China Download) I am sick of uploading so do not ask for mirrors, please! :) Use installation instructions from here After the rom download I opened it with WinRar and went into data/app folder, selected all apps there (do not delete camera app - aoyou20140506.apk) and deleted them. It slimmed down rom for more than 100MB. Color os is great, very fluent, with lots of bells and whistles. Didn't try everything yet, but it seems to be very promising. Emjot, if you are reading this - please try it. :D Galery: Weather app works for non-Cnina places. Widget is animated You can cancel SMS message if you are fast :) This tune is an online sample with lirics. The record is rotating :) Engineer mode is built-in Camera widget with direct photo taking and then sharing Audio recording in mp3 format Various themes and animations Simple cleaner, FTP and DLNA Edited May 31, 2014 by dakok
Guest goodfella123 Posted May 31, 2014 Report Posted May 31, 2014 Looks good. I'm happy with MIUI v03 using nova launcher for now. Will wait to see what Emjot thinks.
Guest goodfella123 Posted May 31, 2014 Report Posted May 31, 2014 I seem to remember an earlier post asking about KitKat 4.4. For now at least it looks like you can install a KitKat launcher until 4.4 is released for the F1.
Guest qwazar87 Posted June 1, 2014 Report Posted June 1, 2014 The coolpad is live))))) Dakok thanks you very much mannnnnnnnnnnnnn!!! I used Chinas flashtoolll - But in manual need to push up volume- was not work/ I pressed all volumes buttons and process goes/ I am not believe in succes but its work!!!! Thanks again)))
Guest qwazar87 Posted June 1, 2014 Report Posted June 1, 2014 I want to install MIUI 4.5.16 Multilanguage for Coolpad F1 8297W (WCDMA + TD-SCDMA) v02 by Emjot & Tiger Is there need to make this wipes? wipe data/factory reset wipe cache partitionadvanced → wipe dalvik cache I s there need to make format? mounts and storage → format /system mounts and storage → format /cachemounts and storage → format /data
Guest dakok Posted June 1, 2014 Report Posted June 1, 2014 (edited) @qwazar Which guide did you use? I posted two of them. Don't get excited so much. Take it easy. :) You copied the lines from flashing guide. It works as I flashed over 30 roms that way. Make the CWM backup first! This one goes at the end, not in the middle: advanced → wipe dalvik cache Then reboot recovery It may work the other way too and with less format/clean/wipe, but I like it this way :) Color OS is on my phone and there is no problem with it :) Gives a little bit more free memory than Miui. Give it a try.. Edited June 1, 2014 by dakok
Guest h3dshot Posted June 1, 2014 Report Posted June 1, 2014 GRRRRR top tip to anyone: don't let family members "test" your new device. Im pretty sure someone has accepted the OTA update on my coolpad f1 as im now on 4.2.018 build and im pretty sure i was on 15 build before :S Anyway I have lost root access and framaroot isnt wanting to work. I've tried to use the vroot app but its in chinese and i can't navigate it at all, there is also a pc version for it, but my pc wont recognise the phone (driver issue) and im not even sure it will work. I remember someone listing all the apps we can use to root, any chance someone can link me to that post number? Also so i dont end up wasting my time, i assume the 18 build is still rootable? its only 21/26 that aren't?
Guest goodfella123 Posted June 1, 2014 Report Posted June 1, 2014 hedshot, luckily i think all are rootable but some are harder than others. Did you not do a CWM backup as suggested to you yesterday. ;)
