Coolpad F1 8297w - Review / Info / Software / Custom Roms

So much info in these threads :) Will take me a long time to go through it all.

But first things first, I see the F1 on Dealsprime for €118 incl. delivery. Anyone have any recent experience with this site. I haven't bought from them before but that price seems pretty good. Should I go for it or buy from Aliexpress?

Also, is there any particular case that that have been good or bad so far?

Thanks if you can offer some advice!

You guys are pretty misterious :D

It wouldn't hurt to give more info about rom, script and twrp :)

@dmrtn

You saw a chinese TD-SCDMA version at dealsprime!!!

Don't buy that one!

You want WCDMA phone.

You can check blackpeach at aliexpress or

there was a coupon + coolicool shop = 157 USD

that recovery is chinese just like the one I had found before, better wait for a translated version since it's a pretty vital thing for the phone :)

Thanks, dakok! Just the info I needed :) I'll let Blackpeach know to give you your sales commission ;)

But no, on Dealsprime it was the 3G WCDMA not the TD-SCDMA, those were the two options.

Aw, crap. Just realised Aliexpress doesn't work with PayPal which is where I have my money for this phone. Will have to wait a bit, I guess.

Update: Just realised I got paid so I ordered it from Blackpeach.

Now I start reading this thread and getting some idea of what to do with it when I get it :) I know not to do any OTA updates without checking here first anyway.

Thank for all the valuable information sharing. based on hands on experience recommendation, what seems to be the most stable ASOP KK, supporting full English?

Thanks a lot, seerJ!

Could you also tell a bit more about it?

What works, what doesn't work, camera quality, battery usage, external SD, google play, root, etc?

I suppose that you use it since 2-3 days.

Is is stable/reliable, ready for normal use?

Can it be flashed using TWRP 2.4.x on top of 4.2.2 ROMs?

(both forums links that you have provided do not contain such info)

to much power consumption people say in the chinese forum

and in his thread Seerj put a patch for working 3G if i understood from gtranslate

and it is better to flash with twrp 2.7 which is not available yet in english

If it's a beta release, you tend to expect that battery life will be sub-optimal. It seems that getting everything working properly always takes precedence over power saving with new ROM releases. Rightly so, I suppose!

Personally I'm going to hold off for a little while before diving in. As the development is going on in China, it's not as if I can provide bug reports to help them develop the ROM further!

The power consume its a bit higher but, its kit kat! haha

I think that works all except the original gallery with ART.

The autofocus camera is better and faster than 4.2 roms and i think the camera is better. The rom is faster and its very optimized, seems to...

i installed with the bruno recovery because TWRP don't flash it.You have to do in the steps i say in movilesdualsim. Sorry for my english.

Does this rom have Gapps inside?

Did you mean to remove Kinguser app after reboot? (it is the app for setting root privilegies)

Ok, thanks.

That cwm is the one we all have been using

for some time.

What are the impressions with this 4.4 aosp?

Strange that it has gapps inside.

You can't find that often in chinese rom

It has chinese an English language. A few Chinese app installed, camera can 12 mp maximum resolution. ART works fine, the system is very fast and smooth. But it is AOSP :) too boring for me.

@borsosg

Then wait a while for MIUI v6 - based on 4.4 android

I am pretty sure that Coolpad F1 will be among first supported devices

(after xiaomi and known flagships, of course)
