6666 is about 20% less than that of Color OS and probably many other 4.2.2 roms

Yes, that's the issue common to probably all 4.4/4.4.2 ROMs so far.

Even that 4.4.2 021 brought minor 3D performance improvement, it's still slower on all 4.4.2 ROMs (even ported ones) than 4.2.2 ROMs (& that difference is visible in 3D apps, even without benchmarks).

Does anyone have the original Coolpad F1 logo.bin (first boot logo) so I can change the bright white himax one I currently have.

I can flash it OK, just need the file.

Could be that the KitKat ROMs come with different GPU drivers. This could easily drop 3D performance by 20%.

Is there much difference in the way that Jellybean 4.2 and KitKat 4.4 treat the display? This might explain why different drivers might be required and the KitKat drivers could be less optimised in comparison to the Jellybean ones.

That said, you would have thought that there should be enough devices using the Mali GPU that there should be some decent Kitkat-compatible drivers available. Doesn't mean that Mediatek have bothered to update their sources with the most recent drivers, though.

I wonder,Coolpad has 8 gigs of ROM,lets say it 7,5.
If an ROM takes 2 gigs it's left as my device shows 5,68 gigs,I dont have many apps installed on internal storage, only the ones which can not work on sd card like facebook, whatsapp etc. lets say they take 2,5 gigs thats almost 3,5 gigs free and now I have only 1.7 gigs free,I dont get it where is all that memory ?

my conclusion so far about the stock coolUI roms is that all the kitkat ones i tried were a bit slower than the jellybean ones. Some of them even have a little bit of lag when opening system menus and stuff. Not very noticeable lag but there is no excuse for a phone with such hardware to be anything other than butter smooth.

Maybe their kitkat development is in early stages,we will see..

You can just flash this to change the first white himax bootscreen:

http://www.needrom.com/download/coolpad-f1-boot-logo-mod/

To flash back to Original Coolpad F1 logo you need to edit the downloaded zip file and replace logo.bin with the orginal Coolpad F1 logo.bin.

I just don't have the original logo.bin file handy at the moment.

Maybe from someone with YGDP and a CPB rom could extract it :D

(I would do it but I'm not at home now :))

Sure thing! This is from official 041: https://www.dropbox.com/s/w1rojrrzi6xk30o/logo.bin?dl=0

And according to the script in that zip you don't have to flash, Just copy the file to: /dev/logo and then reboot. :) Personally I actually prefer the himax screen. Looks more professional...

Cheers Mindtrapper, I'd probably keep the himax one if it was a black background. Too bright when your pratting about in bed flashing stuff haha.

What are the impressions about  the latest Laek.17s rom v4, I read on needrom that Antutu score is very low about 20000 points.

I have a problem with Baidu rom, when some1 calls , it doesnt show the contacts name, but only the number, which is quite a deal braker.
