Guest redzone321 Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 Successfully bricked my phone on i8000L (bell) Care to explain?
Guest PCSPhone Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 (edited) I tried to flashed Eboot + PDA using Octans 2.13. Once my phone is connected I click Start Download. Then after a few seconds I saw a message in octans 2.13 saying "Bootloader failed!Disconect!" during the eboot transfer. After that , my phone's screen freezes and start turning pixel off randomly and became unresponsive. Now I can't turn it on anymore. Using the reset hole or unpluging battery did not fixed it. I was using WinXP SP3 btw. Edited February 5, 2010 by PCSPhone
Guest slavke1976 Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 Try to download eboot again, maybe one you downloaded is not downloaded well and it is why you have had that message "bootloader failed!Disconect!", and then try again to boot . or maybe it could happen if you didnt turn off your antivirus. i hope you will success to repair your phone. On one forum i read that if flashing fail to not disconect phone from usb only to restart computer and start from begining.

I also succesfuly flashed a friend's I8000L eboot + PDA + CSC and everything's fine. I flashed using Windows 7 X64 following the guide posted here in Modaco for that OS with no trouble except that, but only at the first try and no bricked phone anyway. The only thing left to try is Phone part, but since there's no way yet to dump the original I8000L phone part i don't dare messing with that.

Here there....what CSC file did you select since there is no Bell CSC file out antywhere as far as I know. What CSC file would you recommend for North American (USA) users? Thanks Gordon

What CSC file would you recommend for North American (USA) users? Thanks Gordon I'm from Argentina, i used the CSC "I8000FOPJA5.csc" From Spain to get the spanish language, it's Operator Free, so i had to load my operator settings manually. The good thing is that some crap from my stock CSC dissapeared after flashing CSC part, like preloaded Opera Favorites and stuff. I don't know wich CSC part is correct for USA, you should try to find out which one is for english language and operator free and after flashing load GPRS, MMS, etc... settings manually because there are not specific CSC for american users.

Did your phone's screen slowly fade out when you got the error? Mine did that and the usb connection got disconnected. So I unplug the USB cable and connect it back. At that point, the phone was bricked since I couldn't turn it on anymore.

Are you referring to the Samsung modem driver? I think I got everything installed since I was able to connect to the phone with Octans2.13.
Guest slavke1976 Posted February 7, 2010 Report Posted February 7, 2010 what is happening now, ? does computer recognise phone when you connect USB? or just nothing happen?
Guest PCSPhone Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 what is happening now, ? does computer recognise phone when you connect USB? or just nothing happen? Nothing since the phone would not even power up.
Guest slavke1976 Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 and if you connect phone to computer even phone is not powered on? try to connect phone to computer and run octan and try to flash again but flash eboot and pda together. you know when flashing your phone must be powerOFF how octan could recognise it. so try maybe it will success

The phone use to display some sort of logo when I connect to Octans but now I only get a black screen. I've sent it to the service center.

I've sent it to the service center. I guess you just had bad luck and your problem is not related to flashing eboot on I8000L since all of us succesfuly flashed fine, but just the risk of flashing eboot itself, either I8000 or I8000L. Wish you good luck with service center.
Guest Posted February 13, 2010 Report Posted February 13, 2010 Excelente post hermano! Gracias por confirmar el eBoot OK para I8000L en Argentina! You said that you wouldn't mess with the Phone part, because it was the only one that wouldn't be able to backup, but in fact the EBoot and CSC neither can't be backup, right? Also, would you mind posting the MMS / GPRS configuration for your mobile (I have Movistar), so others can benefit from it? I set GPRS OK in it but couldn't find the right settings for MMS to work :D At last, did you try flashing the latest Secany (Feb 10th) ROM along with EBoot & CSC? Gracias!

Dan, DONT flash CSC part, it is no point on it, it just packs some country or operator-specific settings and files.. nothing to benefit from it in Argentina. You can safely flash eboot + PDA from latest Secany JB1 (feb 10th) in I8000L, i guarante it will work you fine. And never flash phone, as a rule. Movistar config. is Access point: internet.gprs.unifon.com.ar; user: wap; pass: wap.. That's it... not sure about MMS config though,

Guest nipip Posted February 13, 2010 Report Posted February 13, 2010 flashed JB1 eboot on i8000L personal argentina without problems
Guest rodrigofd Posted February 13, 2010 Report Posted February 13, 2010 flashed JB1 eboot on i8000L personal argentina without problems Anyone flashed JB1 PHONE PART successfully?
Guest Posted February 14, 2010 Report Posted February 14, 2010 flashed JB1 eboot on i8000L personal argentina without problems A Personal bought phone (locked?) or you meant an unbranded phone that had a Personal SIM? Si es de Personal... qué pasa al flashear estas ROMS? Se desbloquea / desbrandea? If it's a locked phone, what happens at flash? Does it get unbranded?
Guest nipip Posted February 14, 2010 Report Posted February 14, 2010 Branding stuff are at csc, I8000FOPJB1 set it to neutral spanish-spain but phone still remain locked. I entered 3g configuration manually after flashing. The only known method to unlock i8000/i8000L is having the secret code from carrier.
Guest Posted February 18, 2010 Report Posted February 18, 2010 If we could find the way to backup the phone part, we could try to flash I8000 phone into I8000L and restore original Phone in case of any trouble. I made a backup of my I8000L stock rom from Argentina before my first flashing, with Pako's Executor i made a PDA and eboot backup so the phone part is the only remaining part to backup before we can try to flash secany's phone. Hi chico, I downloaded Pako's Executor and besides the McAfee detecting 2 viruses in the exes, I'm not quite sure how to make both Eboot and PDA backups and make them "right" so they can be flashed back again with Octans. Can you please let us know how did you backup them, if is there a way to backup CSC also (Phone there isn't, right) and if you every tried to restor Eboot / PDA from your original firmware with Octans and if it went OK. Gracias capo!
Guest nipip Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 Anyone flashed JB1 PHONE PART successfully? Someone at htcspain did it with a claro phone, but didn't give much feedback about, only reported 3g working. He flashed the whole rom unknowing risks probably loosing 850 band (movistar) but claro and personal uses 1900 also, so the report. I will try if I would have a backup of any i8000L phone part.
Guest slavke1976 Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 Finaly i flashed completly my i8000L omnia, i flashed new jb1 ROM ,all together with phone part and for now didnt see any changes. All is working well
