Guest Gary Crutcher Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 ok, i have extracted pagepooltools folder on desktop and along with nb0. open up dos window, c:\documents and settings\lance>desktop\pagepooltools\pagepool.bat then enter, but it shows the option but also states the choice is not recognized as an internal or external command. do u know how to get it to work? i'm a newbie about those stuff, thanks It's a dos batch file. Did not try it under WinXP, just Win7/Vista. Use notepad to look at the pagepool.bat file. You will see how it works. Just type the line with the pagepool size you want. Example: bspatch GC_21897_8PP.nb0 GC_21897_12PP.nb0 12PP.patch Just checked WinXP batch file commands and 'choice' cmd is not availeble in WinXP, but is in Vista. Bummer!
Guest nicoscy Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 (edited) i followed the instructions and i made it. i changed the page pool to 16 with win7. i did not flash my phone yet. thanks a lot. great job Edited March 27, 2010 by nicoscy

Guest garyfl Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 ahh damn im using xp atm my pc blew up ( other one) any way of making a new nbo already with 0pp ?
Guest Gary Crutcher Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 (edited) hey gary downloaded the new rom stuck on pagepool editing can you make it a little clearer stuck on the batch file opening part, not quite sure what to do its a little vague The instructions are a step-by-step how to change page pool. Tools/Files Provided: bspatch.exe - patches the .nb0 pagepool pagepool.bat - DOS batch file to automate the pagepool patching MD5-setup.exe - for verifying the MD5 value of the patched .nb0 - windows-based program (optional) MD5 Checksums.txt - use to verify the patch and the download 0PP_patch, 12PP_patch, 16PP_patch, 20PP_patch - Page Pool patch files Ok. Let's get started patching the PagePool. 1. Unzip PagePoolTools.zip (all files should be placed in same folder) 2. Install MD5-setup.exe (one-time install) you can skip this if you already have a way to calculate the MD5 number. 3. Copy the downloaded .nb0 to the same folder as the PagePoolTools (Ex. GC_21897_8PP.nb0) 4. Open a DOS window 5. Navigate to the PagePoolTools folder. 6. Run PagePool.bat Example: D:\> pagepool.bat 7. Select the PagePool size you want (Options 1-4) 8. Wait ~5 seconds, then should be complete For example, you end up with a file: GC_21897_16PP.nbo, if you selected 16MB PagePool Original .nb0 is NOT altered. 9. Use MD5 calc program to generate an MD5 number for new file with patched PagePool and compare it with the MD5 number in MD5 Checksums.txt (optional, but highly recommended) 10. If the numbers are the same, you are ready to flash. pagepool.bat is a DOS batch file utility and has to be run from a DOS window. The utility will run under Vista/Win7 but not WinXP. Attached is the batch file for WinXP. PagePoolXP.zip Fixed Vista/Win7 batch file. PagePool.zip Actually, the PagePoolXP batch file can be used for WinXP/Vista/Win7. Guest Gary Crutcher Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 cheers used the xpbatch worked but isnt it suppposed to change the file name ? also even though it said pagepool patched it said unknown command or somethig If you read the instructions: 8. Guest unholygid2006 Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 Gary... All works except 0pp... no idea why it didnt got created but the rest are ok
Guest Gary Crutcher Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 Gary... All works except 0pp... no idea why it didnt got created but the rest are ok There is a typo in the batch file, i.e., a 'pp' before GC_ I posted a new batch file in previous posts. I tried them all except 0PP. My bad.
Guest garyfl Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 yeah original and then after weaiting a while for the dos i ended up with GC_21897_0PP.nb0 ram shows 159.41mb yet only 81.50 free, where as on 8mb pp it showd 96mb free for me :/ is that the consequence of pp being dynamic ?

I think so because when I flashed the 0PP file on my O2, I noticed memory was in the mid to low 80s. Even using cleanram did not help much.
Guest garyfl Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 does make the phone snappy as it seems to allocate a lot of ram willy nilly but this now means no opera aha. is it easy to make a 1mb pp ? or does it have to be in multiples
Guest unholygid2006 Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 20pp seems to make the phone faster. But ram is around 70mb ++. I see how much ram is left after i install all my apps.

Getting late here in Bangkok. Almost 12:30am. Time for sleep.
Guest Stockholm Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 (edited) I did not get the bat to work but fixed it simply by copying the full string (from the batfile) direct at the c prompt in the rom directory cmd did work with my XP, there is also a "command prompt" icon in the "accessories directory". It looked like this, and with all files unzipped to the "rom" directory if you don't get cmd to work. C:\rom>bspatch.exe GC_21897_8PP.nb0 GC_21897_12PP.nb0 12PP_patch Ended up with a new nb0 file GC_21897_12PP.nb0 Same size as the 8pp original and was OK with the hashCalc and that's the one I'm going to use.... Gary, I have CSC URJB3 i noticed that you have EBJB3 does it matter in any way? PHONE XXJB2 (same as yours) Thank you very much Gary, I will flash now... Greetings from Sweden ----------------------------- Update: All working great, Tank you very much Gary. I noticed among other things that the TCPMP player is 20-30% faster/better, must be some significant changes in the graphics department! Activesync is also improved, it was a little random connection before. Edited March 27, 2010 by Stockholm
Guest speedfrog Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 (edited) if I can make a suggestion, I think it would be more transparent if you updated the first post with that the newest roms were in the top of the post. Edited March 27, 2010 by speedfrog
