Laek might be overheating now, having two new base roms to work with:

Micromax 4.4.2

CoolUI 4.4.2 with true ART

ok i think this problem might be an even bigger pickle than the last one. can the phone even be flashed if it's not in safe boot mode? 'cause i can't get it in safe boot mode...

Posted (edited)

erm... guys? i just started my phone and it booted normally and.. the system is up...

i did absolutely nothing.

remember a couple of months ago when i left my phone in the car sizzling in the noon sun by accident? today for the first time (with laek's v3 installed) the screen just faded away and i couldn't start the phone until i changed my battery. this evening the brand new battery was inside the phone when it just froze and gave me that red exclamation mark and screwed with me until now.

could it be that i am getting the results of the sizzling just now even if it worked perfectly for the last two months following the event?

edit

oh yeah. still not rooted. :/

@dakok

vol buttons + power button give you the state available for flashing with teeny tiny little font in the lower left corner saying "safe boot mode". or someting like it. don't remember.

looks like i'll be getting rid of this phone before it gives up on me. damn.. and i was really getting into it. however, the phone doesn't have gorilla glass so be careful.

NOTICE TO USERS!

i have noticed a small and shallow scratch on the screen and the phone has NEVER EVER been in my pocket with any sort of metal (keys, coins etc) so be careful with your phones. the advertised gorilla glass is a fake. it's some sort of glass (maybe even ogs) but it's certainly not gorilla. and believe me, i've gone through enough samsungs to know the difference :)

flashed laek's microaosp, after booting, setting google play account and wifi, after a reboot the phone froze and stayed on boot screen, flashed again, did the same things again and after rebooting it froze again, so I assume it's a bug. the first time I flashed the rom, my phone had a problem when calling, the audio was only audible via loudspeaker, on second flash it was ok. Titanium backup said it couldn't write to sd, so maybe sd fixer has to be used in order to write on the sd. I went back to aosp v3 since the reboot problem is pretty huge!

Posted

did you do the data wipe/factory reset/clear cache/clear dalvik cache/reboot recovery routine before flashing?

Posted

damn... din't have those problems with laek's v3. could it be some of the apps you install?

Posted

I only installed titanium backup, nothing else. I also never had any problem on V3, but v3 and the new aosp are based on two different AOSP's,

hmmm TB... did you try to restore anything using TB? could be the source of your troubles. you should be restoring only the apps' settings, not the apps themselves if changing roms

Completely wrong there. It is almost impossible to scratch any tempered glass with keys or coins.

They are not made of carbon steel or even tungsten carbide :D

Key metal is a simple plain soft steel or othel metal material. You would soon ruin any lock with it otherwise.

The only way to scratch the glass with key or coin would be presence of material impurities in the metal they are made from.

Gorilla glass is even harder than some non-branded tempered glass.

How can you scratch any super hard glass?

Pockets with tiny sand-like particles or dirty hands that contain sand particles

Why sand?

Sand is much harder than majority of metals and it can contain quartz or other minerals with even higher hardness.

The other way to scratch it is to hit the screen with the bottom of milk mug (ceramic).

Proved by accidental experiment :(

How did you scratch yours?

One of these: sand or alike, dirt, ceramics, minerals (do you keep diamonds in your pockets?) :D

And OGS is layering technology, not a kind of glass and not a measure for glass hardness.

The last stock rom is good?

Official CoolUi 4.4.2 (I installed from CPB with YGDB tool) works perfect. Camera is the best, very fast focusing. Art works really, antutu score 31880.

It is the official KitKat rom for 8297w. I didn't find any bug yet. It is chinese/english. I am very satisfied with it.
