Guest Arpione Posted September 27, 2014 Report Posted September 27, 2014 What were the drawbacks of official versions again? Other than 4-5 digit sms. I know they have the bst camera but what problems do they usually have? After so many roms, and not a good kit kat yet, i was thinking of leaving the PURE Aosp v2 and go to official 041. Will they stop developing those now that they are into official Kit Kat? Why would you leave PURE AOSP v2? The only 2 thing it's worse in than official roms are the camera picture quality and 3d performance, that's why I made these patches: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B6ZpvMRRlFJ_aXBla2hYeUI5YUk With these you'll have the best performing rom out there :) ps: default camera'll still make worse pictures because it has hardcoded values for jpeg compression but othe camera apps like Camera FV5 make great pics.
Guest mindtrapper Posted September 27, 2014 Report Posted September 27, 2014 (edited) Because almost always after i reboot it enters android and then freezes and after a minute or two restarts. I know it could be something I have installed but I cba to debug it. Also logcat stops when i reboot and doesn't resume when the phone enters android, so I can't know what is going on. It can take as much as 30 minutes to enter android without freezing and then works perfectly, until I reboot again... Would you suggest flashing it from the beginning and then adding apps in small batches and rebooting after every batch to pinpont the problem? Edited September 27, 2014 by mindtrapper
Guest dakok Posted September 27, 2014 Report Posted September 27, 2014 Now when there are so many roms to try there is no excuse for keeping the rom that's no good. Recovery backup takes 5 minutes and flashing a new rom takes two minutes. If you don't like it you are back to your original state in 3 minutes...

Do you also backup the contents of your sd card and internal storage and restore them too, after the nandroid restore? Or it doesn't matter?
Guest korekore1 Posted September 27, 2014 Report Posted September 27, 2014 has anybody here went from official kitkat straight to custom jellybean?i wonder if there are any problems from not flashing an official baseband first.
Guest dakok Posted September 27, 2014 Report Posted September 27, 2014 SD card content is intacted during this wiping\flashing and internal storage is backed up and restored in backup restore. Besides that I save favorite apps (non-system) with apk extractor.

Yes, sd content remains but if you try different roms maybe they add something to the external sd and when you go back to your rom with twrp restore those data stay there and cause conflicts?
Guest dakok Posted September 27, 2014 Report Posted September 27, 2014 take a screenshot of your sd card maps and delete whats extra later :)

Guest korekore1 Posted September 27, 2014 Report Posted September 27, 2014 any idea on how to root official 4.4? (4.4.009.P0.140924.8297W) Tried with vroot, root genius and framaroot with no luck.
Guest xeros2 Posted September 27, 2014 Report Posted September 27, 2014 (edited) After some time of use few 4.4.2 based ROMs, I think I'll go back to 4.2.2 ROMs - besides that on 4.4.2 everything is working properly & stable, it's still not as good as 4.2.2 (camera quality, sd & 3d performance - even any tuning doesn't help much). It makes bad overall impression if someone remembers how good it was on 4.2.2. I don't think 4.4.2 is going to get the state of 4.2.2 (at least not in about next 3 months). Guest dakok Posted September 27, 2014 Report Posted September 27, 2014 Screenshots added to Color OS topic!
Guest Posted September 27, 2014 Report Posted September 27, 2014 help! I flashed the offical 4.4 09 (ota_full_009_P0_signed.zip) via cwm, and accidentally pressed no to the "disable recovery flash on reboot", and now when my phone is turned on i get a prompt (in chinese) for a pin code (i think, i get a number pad, and a text input) i get 3 tries at entering the code, then it seems to unlock, but the only thing i can do is open the dialer. i guess it's some kind of emergency dialer option, it's hard to tell since everything is in chinese! so, i tried to flash 4.4.009.P0.140924.8297W.CPB via YGDP, but it fails with the error 05:12:34 CELL0: Software Version: Assembly - 05:12:34 CELL0: Cell 0 USB address is: com3 05:12:34 CELL0: Start Download. 05:12:34 CELL0: Download Started... 05:12:34 CELL0: Downloading CPB: 05:12:34 CELL0: Init Connect Arg. 05:12:34 CELL0: Downlaod DA Start. 05:12:38 CELL0: Downlaod DA Success. 05:12:38 CELL0: This CPB for the Phone don't support Check CID. 05:12:38 CELL0: Verify is Partition be Changed. 05:12:38 CELL0: Partition is not Changed. 05:12:38 CELL0: Get Usb Status Success. 05:12:38 CELL0: Read YL-Parames Partition Start. 05:12:47 CELL0: Read YL-Parames Partition Success. 05:12:47 CELL0: Check between YL-Parames Partition and PhoneInfo Start. 05:12:47 CELL0: Check between YL-Parames Partition and PhoneInfo Failed. 05:12:47 CELL0: Check YL-Parames Partition Failed, The CPB is not for the Phone. 05:12:47 CELL0: DisConnect. 05:13:07 CELL0: Total download time elapsed: 0 min : 33 sec 05:13:07 CELL0: Downloading CPB: Failed! I also tried the coolpad download assistant, but that just gives me a big blue smiley face, which i assume is becuase the version it's attempting to flash is the same as the one on the phone? as well as that i tried the SP Flash tool, but that gives me an error along the lines of "cmd jump da failed 2035" I've also tried to sign some zips to flash them with the stock recovery, but that didn't work :( i've done a factory reset from recovery several times, but that's not helped. any ideas? because as it is i have a working phone that i can't use because it has a secret pin, and a stock recovery that won't let me do anything, and no usb debugging enabled! so at this point i either need a way to find out what the pin it wants is, or a way to flash cwm recovery so i can restore my backup! or even a signed rom that i can install with stock recovery, then i can root and install cwm.
