Coolpad F2 got CM11 :D

Not exactly and I didn't read it anywhere yet (EDIT, found a comment on firstpost just now :)).

Exact phone is Micromax Yureka and it looks very much like Coolpad F2.

Micromax used Coolpad F1 for its Nitro A310 and my guess is that the same goes for Yureka (being Coolpad F2.

Yureka article

Look at the images (specs are the same):

Yureka:

Coolpad F2:

Yes, it's the f2,but the snapdragon one :( no cm port for us!

Hi,

Where exactly is this file "Reaper" located? I want to search in my coolpad 9976A.

Secondly, how can the so called Reaper communicate to the Internet if you have a firewall installed?

Posted several times already:

http://www.modaco.com/topic/372543-coolpad-f1-8297w-review-info-software-custom-roms/page-193#entry2244443

I think it can communicate when it is doing an OTA update (or claims that it is but is actually doing something else - e.g. stealing data, downloading bloatware etc.).

i have a kitkat aosp on my Coolpad.

I need some help to disable hardware buttons, i like onscreen.

Anybody did it with success?

Baidu started with KitKat rom development

for our phone. More info at ydss forum...

For what it's worth, I expect the stock-based ROMs from the development community will probably have had these dodgy 'Reaper' files removed already.

It's very easy to check if they are there. You just need a root-enabled file browser (I use Root Browser personally) and you can then check out the /system/apps directories for the dodgy files. I suppose you could also check using adb shell if you are technically inclined or using a Terminal window (with root).

Can't you also just check the ROM zip before flashing anything?

Posted (edited)

Regarding Baidu KK v62, I flashed it but it is not very good yet (1st release)

The post from YDSS was removed but I found it at MIUI website, rom download link is here

Rom shoud be updated every 14 days

Project Baidu Coron 4.4 - Open Source BaiduOS rom is maintained here (it doesn't mean much sense to me :))

Forum is here, here

Not sure if MTK is limited to 4.2, but 4.4 development says:

base update:
             coron-4.4:
1, root privileges can not repair the problem comes into force, the need to increase the relevant settings in init.rc, the details, see the init.rc base settings.
2, the system upgrade to 4.4.4 APP, APP prior to removal of some repair, now these changes at the application layer has been improved.
3, together with the associated frame layer 60 file changes.
4, fix some models may mistakenly identify the external SD card and the machine does not have an external SD card problems.
5. Based on the M11 version of CM11 base_cm already on-line, and third-party repair application theme wallpaper size may lead to the wrong question, and synchronize updates to 60.

Probably you need to delete assert lines in script, google that

for details

If you find AOSP desktop boring, try this:

Install Holo launcher + Belle icon pack

Set it as default launcher, keep in memory and

while in appearance, set icon sizes to about 123, text to 11

Desktop

grid 5x4

Horizontal and vertical margin to Large

Elastic scrolling

Very nice :D

Apex works too. Settings don't have to be boring also. And just think what I show here is JB, not even Kit Kat. :) Nothing boring about AOSP.

He's right, AOSP isn't boring. Look at mine how cool it looks. Apex Launcher + Minimal UI icon pack.

That should also work. I was thinking more about testing an already-installed ROM, but I suppose you could check the original ZIP if you still have it on your phone or computer.

Been using Maucat (KK) for a week now, no real major issues (apart from a nvram error wifi network, wifi still works great though)

But I am reverting back to the Pure AOSP V2 (JB) rom, just because it is so smooth and fast. Maucat was slightly sluggish on certain things (like playing music), but I guess that kitkat will always be more demanding than previous versions.

Hello,

On aosp roms (maucat's for example) my wireless hangs after a while and doesn't works until I reboot phone. Any help would be nice, thanks.

Kitkat should be less demanding than Jellybean.

The core of Kitkat was deliberately reworked with the aim of making it more 'lightweight' so that it would run better on phones with just 512MB of RAM so it doesn't make sense that it should be slower on devices with higher specifications. If there is a difference in performance, the fault almost certainly lies with Mediatek/Coolpad for not putting enough work into the Kitkat code for the MT6592 chipset. It's one thing to release Kitkat ROM but another to then put the additional work in to improve the coding and efficiency.

I'd imagine that most of their coding resources went into producing Kitkat and Lollipop, sorry 'Android L' for the new 64-bit chipsets currently finding their way into new phones.

This is why it is such a pain in the neck that they never release the source code for phones/chips (despite being bound to do so by the GPL), as the development community would certainly be able to improve the coding and efficiency had they the access to this stuff.

I've always associated newer software to generally need newer hardware after each upgrade.

For example, Win XP to Vista, OSX and even Linux all tend to incease their minimum hardware requirements.

Does ART instead of Dalvik help at all with performance?

I think it works on maucat's AOSP 4.4.2 but I haven't had a chance to try it yet...
